Keith's Story

Two brothers and a friend went four wheeling in a wooded area of Myrtle Beach, and their truck became stuck in a deep mud hole.  They left the engine running with the exhaust under water because they did not want the water to backflow into the engine.

Keith, another brother, joined them out in the woods later that night
to help get the truck out.   He tells the drama of the rescue when his brothers got accidental carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from exhaust fumes passing through the muddy water and getting into the air even though they were outdoors.

Maybe our story will help you save someone’s life by being aware of the causes and symptoms of CO poisoning.  We are truly blessed by the outcome of these events.

Get CO Smart – Mom’s Poem

Mom and John 12 years after rescue.

The mom (Mary) gives a description of some sources of life threatening carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning.  Her sons received oxygen therapy and went into a hyperbaric chamber to help recover from CO poisoning.  The mom is especially dedicated to promoting awareness of this danger that so silently lurks in unsuspecting situations.
